About Us

It has been said that democracy is the worst form of government except all those other forms that have been tried from time to time.
– Winston Churchill.

Thank you for taking the time to find out a bit more about us at Political Education For Students. PEFS came together in April 2015 to promote the teaching of politics and democracy in secondary schools.

As an organisation, we want students to love politics, democracy and citizenship. In a school system that is sometimes struggling to cope with the demands of curriculum overload and headline examination figures, these topics can be somewhat overlooked. We firmly believe that schools are crucial in preparing students for their role in a modern democratic society, where they understand how our institutions of government work and are engaged in the democratic political process. We want to educate and inspire students to find out more about the practices and processes of everyday life in this fantastic country.

Political Education For Students is a non-partisan organisation that has been set up to support schools in this endeavour. The use of engaging and enjoyable politics workshops, seminars, lectures, holiday schools, teacher training and schemes of work are all designed to help schools create a politically literate generation. All of our political services are created by teaching professionals who understand the features of outstanding, effective and enjoyable learning and teaching and what student progress ‘looks like’. At Political Education For Students, we are enthusiastic and committed to improving students’ political awareness and creating an interest in the values of our British democracy.

We promise you that all of our political education services, from our student workshops to our schemes of work will:

  • Be fun, engaging and educational for students of all ages.
  • Inspire an interest and curiosity in politics.
  • Be prepared by outstanding teachers.
  • Embed British values in to your school.
  • Promote the spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of your students.
  • Be a fantastic addition to your PSHE curriculum.
